Aikahi Pillbox Hike!
Aikahi Pillbox hike this morning! !!! Hike at your own risk. Have you done this one? Here's how we went... 🚗 Park by Aikahi Fire Station 19 in Kailua -- plenty of street parking available. 🚶♀️ Walk along Kaneohe Bay Drive for about 10 minutes towards H3. You will pass a water treatment plant on your right and Aikahi Garden apartments/neighborhood on your left. 🚶♂️Walk into Aikahi Gardens -- follow the fence line to a green dumpster/small chain fence that has a no parking sign 🚶♀️ Keep walking until you hit a paved path - and you will see a locked fence on right. The paved path continues flat running parallel to the highway for a short bit then the incline begins (reminscent of hiking up the Tripler Ridge!). 🚶♂️Follow this path all the way up to the towers - they are fenced in. Head around the fence to the left and you’ll continue up the incline (still paved) and hit another fenced in structure. You can go either right or left and it will take you to the pillbox.
