Oahu Urban Garden Center

Image
Have you ever been to Oahu's Urban Garden Center? It's a neat spot for kids and adults alike to explore little themed gardens and it has been there for over 20 years! It's located by the Home Depot in Pearl City. My kiddo loved walking around and seeing the different plants and exploring the tunnels and bridges. There's even a "pizza garden" where they're growing tomatoes, mushrooms and sausage -- just kidding, no sausage trees. 😁🤣 I'd recommend going earlier in the day as it's not very shaded and stop in at the visitor center for a map and treasure hunt for the kids to follow!

Liliha Bakery!

Image
Have you ever been to the Liliha Bakery? We went to the one on Nimitz Hwy today. Today was the last day of their big 70th Anniversary poi mochi donut sale. Half price at $11.70 for a dozen! Deeeelicious!  Here's their location on Nimitz...  Lots of great cakes!  Puffs!  Sooo many delicious looking options. They also have a restaurant ... here's a bit of their menu if you're curious.

Gym options for parents

This turned into a big challenge as the base gyms did not provide childcare (like I was used to at my old gyms like the YMCA!). I tried 24 Hour Fitness, didn't love the drive or th e childcare, then tried UFC gym, same. I finally resolved to exercise at 4am at the Hickam Gym across from our hotel before my husband left for work. Had I known about this "family fitness center", I may have tried this option.  Have you been a member of any local gym that you love? Have you had a good experience with 24 Hour Fitness or the UFC gyms?  Have you tried the Kalihi YMCA? My kids and I started going to the Family Fitness Center (by the gymnastics building on Pearl) when my kids
