Date Night ideas on Oahu!

Who's ready for a date night out and about on Oahu?



I've pulled together a quick mini rundown of ideas and spots for you and your sweetheart, organized by location...


West Side --

Watch the sunset at Paradise Cove beach followed by dinner at Monkey Pod. I recommend their Mai Tai with lilikoi foam on top - a real Hawaiian treat!  If you go before sunset, try to catch their great happy hour specials, usually half off all appetizers and drink specials.

Or try Mina's Fish House at the Four Seasons. Request a table with your own private fireplace 🔥 You'll enjoy a meal while looking at a beautiful lagoon right next to Disney Aulani.




Waikiki --

Have you tried Tommy Bahamas, Duke's, or Deck (by the Honolulu Zoo)?  All are fun and serve up great meals. Deck has a great view of Diamond Head. Maybe take a stroll along the beach afterwards.

North Shore --

Lots of folks enjoy The Beach House in Hale'iwa, or Hale'iwa Joe's.  If you're looking for something more casual, check out Surf n Salsa for a great Mexican meal, order at the counter of this stationary food truck and enjoy their cute seating in the back!  

It's nice to stroll in Hale'iwa in the evening, check out the shops and many art galleries! 


Kaneohe --

Try Hale'iwa Joe's (Haiku location) in Kaneohe! Go early if you want to get a table right away, and enjoy their happy hour.  You can stroll along in their beautiful gardens and around their pond lit with tiki torches, before or after your meal.


Kailua --

Try Goen, Maui Brewing Company or Nico's!  Take a stroll on Kailua Beach before or after. 


Kaka'ako --

Park at SALT and take in the sights and restaurants! We love Moku (same owners as Monkeypod in Ko'olina!) and have heard good things about 1938 Indochine (it's new this year!). Hank's Haute Dogs is more casual, you could grab cheese fries and a tasty dog after walking in Kaka'ako to see all the beautiful murals.  


Chinatown --

This spot is chock full of great restaurants including the Little Village Noodle House, Pig & A Lady, Livestock Tavern, Lucky Belly, and don't forget Senia (big award winner!).  You'll need a reservation for all of these great spots.

Have you been to Wet n Wild in Kapolei?  What do you love about it?   It's our one and only water park on Oahu! We love the keiki swim areas, the waterslides and the wave pool.  Tips for first timers --  1. Recommend purchasing a season pass even if you think you'll only go a few times. The season pass will pay for itself in a few visits and the Big Kahuna pass includes parking. Parking is typically $8 per visit if you don't have it!  We paid $54.99 per person (including children ages 3 and up) for a season pass at the beginning of the year.      -- If you don't want to commit to a season pass without visiting beforehand, you can buy a day pass at the park upon arrival, or at the MWR ITT office on Pearl in the mini NEX (it will probably be cheaper with ITT), and you can upgrade your day pass to a season ticket at the Wet n Wild ticket booths (at the entrance), after spending the day at the waterpark.  2. Pu'u Ohulehule hike! (AKA pride rock)

If you don't mind some heights and a good climb, I'd recommend this quick hike, about a mile up to what people like to call "pride rock" as seen in this picture. Pu'u Ohulehule is a great shaded hike and you only need to go about a mile to get to the rock viewpoint.  You can continue on from that point. See the free AllTrails App for more information on continuing the trail Park near 48 Haupoa Street in Kaneohe. It was easy to park there, no other cars on a Friday afternoon at 130pm and we quickly found the trailhead behind the concrete barrier in the picture below at the very end of Haupoa.  Please be respectful of how you park and be quiet as it is a residential area. The trail was very well marked the whole way with little pink tie on markers. There's some ropes and even a hose tied up next to the steep parts if you want to use them. Not always needed. Secret Island -- Gorgeous spot looking at Kualoa Ranch

This spot on Oahu takes your breath away!     Have you wondered how to find it?    Here's a quick guide to get there... Enter Kualoa Regional Park in Kaneohe, across from Kualoa Ranch. The park opens at 7am each day. I recommend going as close to 7am as you can or after 3pm. Follow the road in, you'll pass several parking lots on your left and you'll see Chinaman's Hat on your left.  On your right you'll approach a dirt road, turn onto it and follow it to a building with a bathroom. Park in that gravel parking lot by the bathrooms, campsites and other buildings. Walk towards the beach and follow the path to your right (or walk along the beach) until you reach a covered picnic area with long tables. Head around the picnic area and follow the trail to the other side of the island, you'll come upon 3 separate docks that face the Kualoa Ranch on Moli'i Pond. Do not try to go and see this lovely spot between 8am and 3pm as it is being used by Kualoa
