Friendship Garden in Kaneohe

Have you ever heard of the Friendship Garden in Kaneohe?  I saw it pop up one time when I was looking at a Google map of Kaneohe and I was looking for a different landmark. The name jumped out to me and sounded like a place I might want to take my kids.  Recently went out and explored the Friendship Garden.  It is a series of well worn trails and great views of K-Bay. The larger loop is about a half a mile long from start to finish. It's mostly up then mostly down on the way back to the start.  I'll have to bring my kids back there sometime. Recommend for hikers of all ability levels.

Lots of beautiful plants and vines, bamboo and great views!  Felt like we were walking through a botanical garden. A lot of the plants and different types of trees were labeled.

Beautiful tall Cook Island pines along the walk.

Lovely views of Kaneohe Bay

We decided to continue along trails that continued further up, off of the Friendship Garden trails. We found even greater views of K-Bay, then views looking east of the 3 peaks and H3. (See picture above).

Gorgeous huge Chinese Banyan on the Friendship Garden loop.

So many vines!

The beginning of the trail.

A stop at the beginning of the trail where you can read a bit about the history of the trails and see maps.

Parking is along the side of the road and only during the day. It can be tight.

The start of the trail here where the stairs start.

A trail map, as you can see it is a couple big loops. Pretty short and sweet and you can go further up from the trail on the upper left of this picture, labeled the "Ridge Lookout".

Small Friendship Garden sign at the start of the trail.

Happy hiking!
